My 'how to wear'..... this seasons hot trend- Paper Bag Waists!

Hey Dolls! What's new?

I get regular messages asking me for tips on how to wear certain items, or how to incorporate the latest trend so I thought why not write a 'how to wear' post now and again to answer your burning questions! If you have a question do get in touch!

Paper Bag waists have been huge for the last 2/3 seasons and it doesn't look like they're going anywhere for Spring/Summer 18!

What is a 'paper bag waist'?

Imagine a scrunched up paper bag, like the ones containing your penny sweets as a kid...... tight at the top and full at the bottom.

Now thinking in terms of clothing- to be considered a paperbag waist, it has to be high-waisted, gathered at some area and have some fabric coming out the top above the cinched area.....make sense?? See -> -> -> for a visual!

So what to wear with it?

Ideally, you want a crop top or something very fitted. This would be most flattering because most of the time paper bag waist garments are loose and baggy, so no matter the size or shape you need to balance out the look with a fitted top.

Do I tuck the top in?

You don't want to hide the paper bag waist- it's the feature of the garment so you want to show it off. So a cropped top or an item tucked in will work best. You could pair it with a sweater, but make sure its tight fitting. Never be tempted to do a baggy top as you will loose the shape and then it becomes unflattering.

Do I need a belt?

Most paper bag waist items come with their own belt or tie to create the look. But if not then add a thin belt or rope tie to cinch in the waist.

Some great ways to rock the paper bag look-

*Add a blazer, heels and a leather bag to keep skinny paper bag trousers looking professional and chic.

*Heels and a statement necklace can make a paper bag waist shorts and a plain t-shirt look good.

*Wear denim paper bag waist shorts with a bralette and a floppy hat for a cool, boho vibe.

*Create a retro look with a paper bag waist skirt, heels and a stripe top.

Hopefully, this post has inspired you to give the paper bag waist look a go- it can work for most body shapes! If you'd like more advice on what can work for your body shape I'd love to hear from you! Get in touch via the comments or email.

Be you, Always
